Ariane Mason
Tutor, Acting
Ariane sees our community as an exciting creative feedback loop. “I love it when my students surprise me with their creativity, and in doing so, inspire me creatively,” she beams. Ariane has been teaching acting for camera at Catalyst since 2018. Her class is a mixture of camera technique, script analysis, character development, and “lots of discussion about human behaviour and what makes us tick.”
As a casting director and former theatre actor, Ariane is perfectly placed to prepare our students for the industry. One such success story is her former student Giulio Brizzi, who shortly after graduation, secured the lead role in the Netflix show Curon.
When Ariane's not at Catalyst, she’s eagerly hunting out new acting talent and diving into scripts. That’s not to mention nourishing her soul with yoga, photography, lake swimming and pasta eating. “I find I have much more mental space in this city for creating than I did in London,” says the British native.
Ariane enjoys art – in whatever form it takes – that truthfully and honestly tells her something new about the human condition, and makes her question or reassess her own experience. “Failing that, anything that makes me belly laugh,” she quips.
