Lola Rossi

Tutor, Visual Effects, Digital Arts & Animation

Lola Rossi (b. 1995) is a Paris and Berlin-based media artist and director whose work bridges cognitive science and visual arts. She explores altered states of consciousness through generative art and techno-ritual practices. Rather than taking a dualistic critique of technology, she investigates how it can provide new perceptions and pathways to self-discovery within an eco-feminist framework. After earning a master’s degree in digital arts and VFX supervision at ARTFX, Montpellier, Lola directed the award-winning short film IN:SIGHT in 2016. In 2021, she directed Kintsug/i, an experimental short film produced using real-time virtual production (XR), which explores temporal continuity as a labyrinthine initiatory journey. In 2023, she worked on a research dissertation on narrative identity fragmentation in media arts. For Bains Numériques 2024, she created Cyborg Rituals, an immersive AI-orchestrated installation supported by UNESCO and the Centre des Arts d'Enghien-les-Bains, which explores the intersection of technological rituals and digital spirituality. Currently, she is collaborating with Hugo Scurto on États Synthétiques, a research-creation project that uses artificial intelligence to generate altered states of consciousness through immersive installations. Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches image theory and digital arts at art and design schools in Paris and Berlin.

At Catalyst, Lola leads workshops on VFX analysis, reproduction and orientation.
