Alix Willhelm

Music tech

Alix, originally from France, considers Berlin his home, though he admits it’s more out of necessity, having been away from France for the last nine years. Since joining Catalyst in 2022, Alix has taken on the role of supporting students and tutors with the use of studios, classrooms and equipment. Whether it’s resolving technical issues or answering questions, he’s there to help. Additionally, Alix coordinates in-house events, such as student parties and live shows, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Before his time at Catalyst, Alix gained a wide range of experiences. He worked in electronic automation and, during his travels, contributed to music festivals in both France and Australia. He also became a certified Vinyasa Yoga teacher and massage therapist. Alix has led volunteer teams in organic farming communities, building his skills in sewing, woodworking, and construction. He also completed his bachelor’s degree at Catalyst in the Creative Audio Production & Sound Engineering programme.

One of Alix’s favorite aspects of his role at Catalyst is interacting with students and teachers. He finds it enriching to be surrounded by so many creative minds from different backgrounds. When he’s not at Catalyst, Alix can often be found at the bouldering gym, attending bass music or psytrance nights, spending time in the forest, or participating in events organised by Blank Pages, a collective he co-founded with our students.

Alix is passionate about learning, discovering, and exploring. He loves that Berlin brings people from all over the world, each contributing their own cultures and experiences. His life philosophy is to be present, humble, and kind. He believes that by giving as much as possible, you receive much in return.
