Alex’s favourite part of his job is the community. “Catalyst is a unique place, full of unique people,” he says. “The minute I walked through the door, everyone I spoke to had something interesting to say.”

Before gracing our team in 2017, Alex worked for the University of London, in his home city. Alex is a Jack of all trades and a master of music. As well as earning a music MA, his diverse work experience includes event organisation, filmmaking, construction and book store management. Word has it, however, that his greatest talent is swearing. 

Alex loves nothing more than getting lost in different places and activities – be that attending gigs and galleries, travelling, making music, reading, painting or drawing. He’s super-inspired by the German painter and sculptor Anselm Kiefer. “There’s a great film, Over Your Cities Grass Will Grow, about a gigantic project he completed over many years,” Alex ethuses. “I’d recommend it to anyone interested in the artistic process.” Musically, you’ll find Alex listening to the many amazing releases on the Opal Tapes record label.
